Serving as a Resource for our Collective Communities

Communities Fighting for Responsible Aviation Practices for the Benefit of All.

Local and Federal Government, FAA, Cargo, Aviation Stakeholders & Airline rhetoric would have you believe that the the world needs a massive increase of air traffic.  This false (and dangerous) assertion may be attributed to media manipulation, indulgence, and simple greed. No one will argue that Aviation has a significant benefit to modern society.  It is a necessary enitity that we should continue to embrace however, with responsible modifications, limitations and regulations that protect the rights and well-being of all ALL human beings and living biota in our environment, as well as the Mental and Physical Health of all animals (human, domestic and wildlife), collective Quality of Life, and our vital Ecosystems.  Southern California's San Fernando Valley is grossly impacted by non-essential private charter air traffic - most egregiously at VNY airport.

Until manufacturers, developers and airlines invest to meaningfully modify the aircraft to better mitigate its own toxic pollution, we should be REDUCING the volume of air traffic, not increasing it out of balance with existing populations and environmental limitations. Private and charter jet (and helicopter) travel is one opportunity where we can reduce the detriment burdening countless communities, as well as our local environments, both locally and across the Nation.  Excessive operations of private and charter travel from small landlocked, general aviation airports (like VNY) is an indulgence that is wholly unnecessary, and it carries dire consequences for the common good.  The consequences of excessive private/charter aircraft traffic far outweigh the limited economical contributions cited for VNY airport.  There are many industries to boost an economy and create jobs, we should be expanding and concentrating on those that improve our home & natural environments - not those that destroy them. Bottom line, if the environmental toll weren’t so great, we might all aspire to fly private.  As it is, the severe impact that private and charter travel has on all surrounding communities & our vital ecosystems, is quite simply, unsustainable.  Not to mention, a glaring example of the abuses suffered from economic disparity.

Impacted Valley communities, including but not limited to: North Hills East, Burbank, Studio City, Sherman Oaks, Bel Air/Beverly Crest, Encino, Tarzana, Woodland Hills, Calabasas, Hidden Hills, West Hills, Chatsworth, Canoga Park, Winnetka, Reseda, Lake Balboa, Van Nuys, North Hills West, Valley Glen, North Hollywood, and Valley Village.

🗣To recap, that is: CD2, CD3, CD4, CD5, CD6, CD7 and CD12 - as well as the cities of Calabasas and Hidden Hills - and SoCalSFV represents signatories from all named or beyond.
